Imagine, if you will, a version of the song "Milkshake" -- as in, "My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard/And they're like, It's better than yours" -- that never ended. The chorus always led into another verse, into the bridge, into another chorus, into another verse, into another bridge, ad infinitum. You're not simply repeating the song over and over again: you are trapped inside the song, the way you would be trapped in a labyrinth with no exits, endlessly navigating the contours of Kelis' milkshake.
This scenario has been made possible with a new, fairly-addictive website called MobiusTube. The service, which was scraped together by developer/mad scientist Paul Lamere at the recent Music Hack Day Denver, automagically create neverending, ever-changing music videos from any song you choose. The hack builds on Lamere's Infinite Jukebox, which used audio analysis from Echo Nest to identify repeating parts of songs that could be seamlessly jumped to and from without interrupting the song in any palpable way.
Now, Lamere has brought that listening technology to sync with a song's music video, which means that you can watch your favorite music video forever.
So, for example, if you're a fan of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" video, you can watch Thicke and his posse dance around for hours; or if you prefer something less, uh, sexualized, might we suggest Fatboy Slim's classic "Praise You" video? "Gangnam Style" is also very good (and suitably insane), if you can still stomach that song.
